Briefed to rethink the way a Somerset district communicated its offer we developed an engaging brand proposition and a unique, impactful and modular identity which embraces a progressive and digitally enabled future.

Background
The way Sedgemoor District Council operates has changed.
Portrayed and perceived as a sleepy backwater of Somerset, the reality of the district has changed. Attracting future-focused industries, operating as a revenue generating business and moving towards digital service access for all residents, the council has a new narrative.
The existing Sedgemoor brand, developed in the 1980s, did not represent the new priorities of the Council.
Our response
We took visual inspiration from the landscape, heritage and aspiration of the area.
Sedgemoor is a place filled with movement and energy. From the curves of the coastline to the spectacular murmurations on the Levels, the district has a unique spirit, dynamism and energy.
The identity needed to be modular and flexible – to be adaptable to resident, visitor and business facing communications. We reimagined the starling murmurations (which the area is renowned for) in a vibrant, digital execution...
The identity set was adaptable to different applications. Modularity was designed-in to allow for a variety of messaging and applications.
The inspiring ‘Creating Opportunity’ brand proposition was developed to express the aspiration and ambition of the Council and was included in the primary identity lock up.
A comprehensive set of guidelines were created to ensure both consistency and managed creative expression of the new brand.
